lol... I think it's great. I did it once, standing literally right on top of Claude so that anyone looking for him would have selected me whether they wanted to or not... I was doing it once to see if it would work, standing next to the henchmen is a better one though cuz it's not deceptive (directly) but instead relies on them not paying attention.

I say anyone who does this to decieve players into inviting them are self-centred morons. It's never happened to me (yet), but if I want a human player in my group, I'll ask. I don't need people to "invite themself" into my gaming, the main reason I use henchies at all most of the time is because I'm often just not in the mood to put up with people. Period.

Well, here's the thing. I couldn't sleep last night so I logged on the play a bit and now there were twice as many people standing in the line up.

From what I gathered I don't think people do this to get parties ...just to 'try' to be funny.

me too...

as a note, I don't remember ever selecting the henchies by clicking on them. I always hold alt when I'm near the exit and just select from the list.

its basically like afk dancing. one starts and when you return you've created a dancing party.

its more of a posing party, because it looks nice standing with the henchies when afk.

Of course, some will be doing it to be "funny", but those aren't as annoying as the ones who do it to sneak into a group rather than asking politely.

I should make a character "Ownage/healer/protector/savior Henchman" just to see how many people would invite me and try see what I can do ^^

I used to do that all the time during beta, and I wasn't doing it to be funny, I just figured since the henchmen were standing around there, it was the proper place to stand around if you wanted to be picked up for a group. Frankly, it never even occurred to me that anyone would be stupid enough to mistake me for a henchman, I just assumed people looking to round out their party would come here, see that I was available, and pick me over a silly henchman.

I have heard that there is a monk whose name is Fighter Henchman, and he rarely gets targetted in PvP.

For crying out loud, some of you have no sense of humor! It's hilarious to stand in line with the henchmen, while you're watching someone stand there obviously selecting some henchies, and then do the /pickme emote.

Or even better, I got a good laugh when someone did invite me to the group while picking henchies, and I do the /no emote.

I don't do it to sneak into groups, I just do it to have fun at the expense of people who don't pay attention to what they're doing. Do you really want to group with a group leader who just demonstrated they don't pay attention anyway? Makes you think...

I'm always accidentally clicking people, and it gets quite annoying. It is however really entertaining when people line up with henchmen. Once I saw a party of six: five were all lined up horizontally, and there was one in front that loooked to be ordering the others around. I think they all saluted at one point too... Classic.

Maybe try a slight typo of it, like "henchmen, hencman" or something similar. If people aren't paying attention then they'd probably mistake it for saying "henchman".

Yeah pretty much my reason too. Wouldn't think people would accidentally pick me but at times when I just wanted to help n00bs get past a certain mission or quest, I'd stand near the henchmen just in case they were hard on their luck finding human players to help them. I usually advertise at the same time that I'm available to help out and being in the henchmen area just seems like the logical place to be right?

I'm not sure why everyone is talking about people standing next to the henchmen, I got the feeling from the opening post (and especially the title) that this was about people posing as henchmen, by standing there and not talking, hoping that someone not paying full attention would invite them by accident and end up with a human player in their group that they may not have wanted.

Standing next to the henchmen and advertising that you're looking for a group, I have no problem with that what so ever, in fact I consider it a normal way to get a group. It's when people pose as a henchman in an attempt to insidiously sneak their way into your game that rattles my cage.
